Panik Attack! Panik Button! Nobody Panik. Panik! at the Frisco! Better get used to the Panic puns as it appears Joe Panik is going to be playing 2B for the SF Giants for many years to come. A native of Yonkers, NY, Joe played college ball at St. John's University. Panik compiled a .398 batting average with 19 doubles, 10 home runs and 57 runs batted in (RBI) during his junior season, ranking tenth among college baseball players with a .509 on-base percentage (OBP). The Giants drafted Panik in the first round (29th overall) of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft. Nice pick! But it was 2014 when the "Panik Attack" started at AT&T. Panik made his Major League debut on June 21, 2014, pinch-hitting for the pitcher in the 8th inning and drawing a walk. Panik's first Major League start came the next day when he batted seventh and played second base. In his second at-bat in that game he registered his first Major League hit. But it was the postseason where Panik really shined. In the NLCS, Panik hit a two-run home run in Game 5 to help lead the Giants to an eventual 6-3 victory over the Cardinals to advance to the 2014 World Series against the Royals. And the World Series? How about a play many regard as one of the most spectacular in World Series history. It occurred during the deciding Game 7. In the bottom of the third inning with a runner on first, Panik made a diving stop on a ball up the middle and flipped the ball with his glove to shortstop Brandon Crawford to start a 4-6-3 double play. A game-changer? You betcha. This official 2014 World Series Baseball is hand-signed by Joe. We've created a great custom case with Giants logo and "2014 WS CHAMP." The case includes wood base, mirrored bottom, UV-protective glass and ball stand. The perfect collectible (and gift!) from yet another unforgettable season by the Bay!
